Making history

A friend of mine from the med school (mr tom hays) and two of his friends from dc went to see the statue of liberty on one of the coldest weekends to date (this upcoming weekend is looking to be a close contender though, with negative wind chills and all). Aside from the freezing weather, it was a beautiful day out, definitely one that made for great picture taking, and the company was great, so I had a wonderful time :)

mr tom hays and i, freezing on line for tickets.

skyline from the boat

it was so cold out and the wind was so bitingly terrible that we ended up standing behind the big white thing in between pictures

playing with huge gusts of wind

lady liberty

tom spotted a hat a wee ways off the path and decided he wanted it. we all thought it was a park ranger's hat, but it ended up being this felt thing...

catching pigeons underneath felt hats is risky business, but someone's gotta do it

I think I'll go to Boston

I met up with some friends from the Journey a few Friday's ago, and a few of us decided that it'd be a great idea to go to Boston for the weekend

Friday night, planning the trip

Paaartaaay!

Christmas came and went too fast!! I didn't get to take many pictures, mainly because I was too busy eating all the food that comes along with the holiday, but here are a few from a holiday party in the city...

Little did I know I was going to take a random road trip with these strangers just a few weeks later...read on in the blogs to find out more
Evan had received a date idea book as a white elephant gift and had everyone sign up for a date....I've yet to get my date btw

Awesome art

It's really pretty and picturesque from afar, but when you get closer we found out that the guy wrote at least an essay's worth all over the painting - most of the 'art' is actually words, like the crops in the fields are all just words - and they all either say a narrative, say something about someone, or just say cute little tidbits...like the one below talks about a river 'from which all groovy vibes flow.' Be sure to check it out next time you're in the museum

I went to the Metropolitan Art Museum a few times this semester, but I never noticed this painting until the end of December -

Pickle this

Some friends of mine and I were in the mood for pickles one day, so we went downtown to visit some apparently well known pickle stores to pick up pickles.

The Pickle Guys - if I had to give my 2 cents, I'd say they've got the best pickled tomatoes, pickled olives, and pickled half sours in NYC

Guss' pickles - Guss doesn't have the whole pickling thing down too well, but Guss does know the best recipe for a full sour pickle. It also felt sketchy, the storefront being on the sidewalk and all.

The Pickle Guys had tubs full of pickled everything - this pickle guy was pretty nice, he let us try everything they had pickled...and I mean everything

303rd Annual DC trip

We made the 303 annual trip to DC the day after Thanksgiving. This time we only took the girls during the day and decided to skip out on the modern art museum in order to avoid the awkward questions that are inevitable when you walk into a place where they create art with their whole body and not just their hands and a paint brush..

Everyone was about to pass out from the musky stench in the Smithsonian - we were in and out in 7.54 seconds flat

Awwww how cute...
Michele being art...or being stuck, it's hard to tell

Them being them, what can I say - and there are plenty more where this one came from

Playing a little chess...

Gum spitting contest - Michele won by 6 yards

We found a random fountain that wasn't even in the mall and took a bajillion pictures in front of it

I don't remember what happened here, but apparently it was really really ridiculously funny
