There's an odd story behind this - throughout the campus there are 'pieces of art,' this being one of them. The story of this one goes something like this: All the zoos from the San Diego Zoo got loose, and so they were using nets to catch all the animals. The only problem was they didn't have nets big enough to catch the giraffes - oh what a pickle! So what did they do? They put up these tall blue nets in order to get em! Great story, isn't it??!?
