The end of nothingness

Winter break is over, unfortunately, bringing the days of doing nothing to an end -- and bringing with it freaking cold weather. I thought my nose was gonna fall off today after walking a whole 2 minutes to the bus stop. And who's the genius who came up with the design for those little bus stop overhangs. It's like a full blown wind tunnel in there. Good news is I didn't do anything stupid today, like go to the wrong campus or slip on the ice.

Speaking of stupid, I did something yesterday that there's no recovering from -- I addressed someone as 'ma'am,' and when I came closer to them they clearly were not of the female gender. I had no clue what to say to the poor kid. But then I had a reason for calling her -- wait, no, him -- that....They were sitting at the train station all bundled up from head to toe, and a kid no older than 8 was sitting next to them. Even so, I had no clue what to do. The only thing I could think of was to keep talking and hope they hadn't heard it. Which he obviously did, but at least he didn't make a big deal of it. He just sat there looking at me with this blank stare. It's a good thing th whole situation is funny now, in retrospect.
